Article 18: Tuned Out

What percentage of society is digging in the dirt attempting to fix their broken parts, versus using chemicals to sedate the pain?

I used to find every avoidance strategy I could get my hands on and knock it back with authority.

I came to realize that it was me that I was trying to get away from, yet everywhere I went, there I was.

I didn't like who and what I had become....in fact I loathed it.

In hindsight, it was the complete lack of self-love and self-respect that was at the root of it all.

I believe that self-love is an absolute mental health necessity.

I am not talking about some form of pompous arrogance, self-love is the deep recognition and growing of our self-worth.

If we value who we are as people, when we acknowledge and honor our spirit, we grow as human beings.

This is why the system poo-poos self-love and portrays it as arrogance. They don't want us to be strong on the inside, because that makes us difficult to control on the outside.

If you are struggling, I would love for you to step in front of the mirror and tell your reflection that it is free of guilt and shame. Remind that person staring back at you that you are a walking miracle and that you and everyone else are all works in progress.

Tell your reflection that it deserves the efforts required to fix the broken parts within.

Tell yourself that you love yourself to the very core of your being.

Say it with the same meaning that you would towards your favorite human or animal.

When we love ourselves, we change the world forever and the need for sedation falls away all on its own.

Be good to yourself today.

We got this.
