Signal Restoration Therapy™ vs. Neuromodulation: What's the Difference?

If you have searched for Signal Restoration Therapy™ recently, there is a reasonable chance you came across something entirely different from what you were looking for. Results from Mayo Clinic, the NIH, and engineering databases describing electrical stimulation devices, clinical neuromodulation protocols, and signal processing algorithms share search real estate with my work, and I want to clarify the differences.

Signal Restoration Therapy™ is not a medical device, not a clinical protocol, and not an engineering concept. It is a proprietary energy healing method I developed over fifty years of practice, and the two things have nothing in common beyond three words that happen to appear in both names.

What neuromodulation actually refers to, in the clinical sense used by Mayo Clinic and the NIH, is the use of electrical, magnetic, or chemical stimulation applied to the nervous system through devices, implants, or non-invasive external equipment. It is a medical intervention delivered by credentialed clinicians in clinical settings, requires a diagnosis, and operates entirely within the conventional medical system.

Signal Restoration Therapy™ operates in an entirely different world. There are no devices, no electricity, no clinical setting of any kind. The work happens remotely, wherever the client happens to be in the world. What I bring to a session is not technology but fifty years of developing the capacity to enter an altered state of consciousness I call the waking dream, where I can locate a disruption in the communication between a person's brain and an area of their body that has stopped receiving the healing instructions it needs. The disruption appears to me as a distinct red against the soft white and blue field of the person's energetic body, and then I work to restore it. This is energy healing, complementary and experiential, and it has nothing to do with electrodes.

The reason the naming collision exists is straightforward. The phrase signal restoration is used across several unrelated fields including engineering, physiotherapy, neuroscience, and now energy healing, because the underlying idea of restoring a disrupted signal is a useful metaphor in all of them. But a metaphor shared across fields does not make the fields the same. A physiotherapist who talks about restoring range of motion is not practicing yoga, and an energy healer who works with disrupted brain-body signals is not operating a neuromodulation device.

Signal Restoration Therapy™ is a trademarked name, and the trademark exists precisely because the concept is original, the approach is distinct, and the work deserves a name that belongs to it rather than floating in a sea of unrelated clinical literature.

Over fifty years and more than 25,000 sessions, I have witnessed the same pattern repeating in the people who come to me. The brain attempts to send healing instructions to an injured or distressed area of the body, and something interrupts that communication before the message arrives. The cells in the affected area try and compensate as best they can but they need the proper signal from the brain in order to resolve the issue, so, they wait. Sometimes the signal restores itself over time. Sometimes it needs help, and this is the work I do: sitting with people who are living with ailments such as chronic nerve pain, post-concussion syndrome, autoimmune conditions, or joint pain that has outlasted its original injury by years, alongside whatever care their medical team is already providing.

The work is done remotely, and the distance between practitioner and client has no effect on the outcome. I have worked with clients in India, in Europe, Australia and across the United States from my base in Vancouver, Canada with the same results I produce with someone in the same city. The energetic body's ability to receive energy is not bound by geographic location.

If you are searching for information about clinical neuromodulation devices or medical electrical stimulation, the Mayo Clinic and NIH pages that appeared in the same search results will serve you better. That is a different field, practiced by different people, for different purposes.

If you came because something in your body is not healing the way it should, and you have started to wonder whether the answer might lie somewhere conventional medicine has not yet looked, then this is the right place to start. The first conversation is free, there is no pressure involved, and if I cannot improve your condition to your satisfaction, I will refund your payment.
